Fostering

What is the difference between fostering and adoption?2025-08-01T18:20:22-04:00

Fostering is a process by which a family provides guidance, training, and loving care to a dog until he or she is adopted by their forever family. We provide the supplies necessary at little to no personal expense to foster families. Foster families are the backbone of our organization!

When a family adopts a dog, they provide the same guidance, training, and loving care – permanently! They welcome the dog into their home and assume the personal expenses that come with caring for a dog.

How long does fostering last?2024-06-03T10:37:43-04:00

The length of fostering can vary, typically ranging from a few weeks to a few months, depending on the animal’s needs and adoption timeline.

Do I need special training to foster?2025-08-01T18:17:05-04:00

While it may be helpful to have prior pet ownership experience, no special training is required to foster a dog. We provide all the necessary guidance and support to help you care for your foster pet.

What costs are involved in fostering?2025-02-20T08:19:21-05:00

We are happy to cover the costs of medical care, and supplies needed for the foster animal, so fostering usually involves minimal personal expense.

Can I adopt my foster pet?2025-08-01T18:16:21-04:00

Absolutely! If foster families decide to make them a permanent part of their family, they are welcome to adopt. There is never any pressure placed on foster families to adopt their foster dogs, though.

“Denise is a wonderful person who puts her heart and sole into the care and proper rescue of the animals.”

“Denise is the best of the best type of rescue director – she truly cares and advocates for her fur babies to make sure that they actually go to the most loving, appropriate homes. She is careful about where her babies go, and she devotes an incredible amount of time to the care and placement of her “babies”. We are grateful that we were chosen as Maddie’s forever home.
